Our History

Destiny Church, formerly known as Mt. Zion Christian Center, was founded in January 1983 by Pastor Bill Bowlby. The first five years of church attendance varied between fifty and one hundred people with Sunday and midweek services being held at Rochester Township Town Hall.

In August 1988 Pastor Rod Marquette was elected pastor and moved from the metro area with his family. Between 1988 and 2006 Mt. Zion Christian Center met at a variety of places throughout Rochester including the Town Hall, elementary schools, and Salem Road Covenant Church on Saturdays. In 2006 we purchased a 10,000 square foot building on the northwest side of Rochester, changed the name of the church to Destiny Church and left the Assemblies of God with their blessing. Destiny's history is a vibrant one with the leading of the Holy Spirit and a high value for the Word of God. In the 90's Destiny was impacted by the Toronto Blessing and became connected to Bethel Church in Redding, California, a relationship that is still very strong to this day.

In December of 2020 Pastor Rod retired and the church elected Pastors Adam & Lexie Molina as the new senior pastors. The Molinas have been connected to Destiny and the Marquettes for just under a decade. Pastors Adam & Lexie have been in a variety of ministries together for over 16 years, most recently the Senior Pastors of River City Church in Bemidji, MN.  In part, our story is still being written as we build upon the great legacy and heritage that has been established as we look forward to the exciting future that God has for Destiny Church.
